Updates . . .

Hey, I'm writing my second post! Let's keep this up.

Sorry I haven't posted much! I actually have a few full deboxing reviews waiting in the wings, but I only have the pictures taken.

However, I do have some pictures, and some teasers.

I know next to nobody's reading this blog (yet), but I'd like some customizing advice. You see, I got an unarticulated ballerina Barbie because her face was gorgeous. I'm planning on doing a rebody with a Raquelle doll and possibly giving the donor body freckles. The thing is, I've never done any customizing, so I feel like advice is a must.

Also, when I'm doing the customization, I'll be documenting it in this order:

A. Review of Ballerina doll (on her original body)
B. Review of Raquelle doll (who will be the body donor)
C. Actual pictures of customization process
D. Picture spam and final thoughts of the Ballerina doll (on body donor body)

By the way, here's a picture of the Ballerina doll (I'm pretty sure she's called Barbie Fairytale Magic Ballerina Lea Doll or something ridiculous among those lines):

I'm very excited about this series, since I think it has a lot of potential. However, I am nervous. But I'll do it, because that face is too pretty to be stuck on a cheap unarticulated body.

Also, here's some picture spam of Raquelle:

This is the homemade dress she was wearing at the end of my review, but the deep V-neck is in the front. She's also wearing a Flavas denim jacket, and the sandals from the 2013 Barbie beach fashion pack. I like how there's a boho chic vibe to this outfit now. Of course, if I added Life in the Dreamhouse Teresa's boots, necklace, and purse, it would have been even more boho chic, but this was a spur of the moment photo. I like how it turned out, though.

Feel free to give advice and/or opinions!

  3. I'm not a customizer, so I have nothing to offer on that front, but your ballerina doll is beautiful (although I agree, her name is ridiculous) and I can't wait to see the results!
And your Raquelle looks great! I did something of a boho chic look on my Raquelle too. At some point (maybe periodically? I'll try to talk her down), she'll probably take over my blog for at least one post, and her boho pics will be on there then, along with some photos of her doing the five basic ballet positions, which she insisted on me taking!

    1. I'm excited too! I haven't found many tips for permanent freckles, but a brown pigma pen should work. I'll have to practice on a generic Barbie, though. She's worth the work-that face is too pretty! I know what you mean about Raquelle taking over! That white dress is perfect for her. I'm planning on featuring Life in the Dreamhouse Nikki at some point, though, because she's gorgeous. And you guys share a name! ;)

I'm psyched for your blog, as well! I can't wait to see your pictures of Raquelle. I have yet to figure out how to follow blogs, but I'll definitely follow yours!

      Thanks!

      Kayleigh

    2. Well, my debut post is up now, complete with your shoutout! I should be able to do a little more over the next few days. Just hop over and check it out! And since you're not sure how to follow blogs, I'd recommend putting my blog in your Web browser's Favorites section until you figure it out.

    3. Your debut post is awesome! I can't believe I've already gotten a shoutout in my first few days of blogging. This is a good sign . . . :D

Wow, 200 Barbies? I only started collecting about two years ago. I mostly just stick to articulated Barbies and getting clothes for them. Also, have you heard of Enchanted Dolls? I'd love to own one, but for now I have to stick to staring at owner photos, lurking on the forum, and saving money (and time) for a paper doll. (Long story short, Marina doesn't respond to my emails about getting one)

I'll save you in my favorites for now until i figure out how to follow you. Again, thank you so much for encouraging me. It feels good to be validated. :D

  4. Hey, my kind of blogger!
Welcome to customizing! I'm a little busy right now to look for tutorials for you, but I'll recommend you our forum: http://www.lov.reflectionsbyice.com/forum/index.php
And you can ask me any specific question and I'll look it up for you or most likely answer it myself. Have fun!

    1. Oh my gosh, thank you so much! The forum is awesome! I'm going to read some tutorials about making wings. I actually experimented freckling a doll with a brown pigma pen. It worked, but the ink dried to a reddish color that looked like scabs or chicken pox instead. :( But at least I know to get a darker brown pigma pen next time. Thanks for everything!

    2. You're welcome! I'd be cautious of using ink of any kind on dolls, as they usually bleed into the vinyl over time. You should seal the face first. You could try acrylic paint on a large dry brush for freckles. Keep us posted of your experiments, I'm sure many will find them useful.

    3. Actually, I'm not freckling the face, just the body. (I'm too scared to do repaints just yet). Does the ink bleed into the body over time? I'm sure it does. Which type of sealant should I use? Again, thank you for the advice. I really don't know what I'm doing yet!

  5. The ballerina doll has a great face, I agree she deserves articulation. :) As for painting, I second the advice to be careful with ink and always seal the head (MSC is popular but you'll need a respirator). Painting the body is a bit different, I think - I've never tried it myself, but it seems the biggest problem is getting the paint to stick.
